"Social enterprise describes any non-profit, for-profit or hybrid corporate form that utilizes market-based strategies to advance a social mission." — Social Enterprise Alliance

A social entrepreneur has a special gift, and calling, to
combine business acumen with altruistic motivation for the benefit
of humanity. This is not easy, and can create a unique set of
challenges not readily encountered in the business world. This is
where leadership support can be indispensable.
"I personally believe we must offer a vision for how to turn success into significance, into broader, more meaningful social benefits that improve the world."
— Dipak C. Jain, Dean, Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University
Turning "success into significance" is challenging. The demands on leadership in social
enterprise can be considerable, with resources often at a premium. Leadership
support through Individual Coaching or Team Development provides highly leveraged structures that have
a significant impact on advancing the mission of an organization or cause while optimizing resources.

Social Enterprise Spotlight: Room to Read
Room to
Read's mission is to provide under-privileged children with
an opportunity to gain the lifelong gift of education. It was
founded on the belief that education is the key to breaking the
cycle of poverty and taking control of one's own life. They
currently focus their efforts on Cambodia, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Africa and Vietnam,
countries with a desperate lack of resources to educate their
children.
Room to Read is making a real impact on the world! With more than 200,000 students accessing their 765 schools and 1.2 million books being checked-out from over 7,000 Room to Read libraries, they are providing opportunities that change lives and communities throughout the developing world. Their goal is to open more than 10,000 libraries and reach more than 5 million children by 2010. Join them in their efforts at www.roomtoread.org.
Room to Read has received numerous awards and recognition, including the Skoll Awards for Social Entrepreneurship and the Fast Company/Monitor Group Social Capitalist Awards five years in a row (2004-2009). "The
amazing organizations that received the Fast Company / Monitor Group
Social Capitalist Awards have found a better way to do good: They're
using the disciplines of the corporate world to tackle daunting
social problems." - Fast Company
